Secretariat

The Secretariat, led by the Director General, consists of staff members stationed in the permanent Headquarters of the Islamic Organization for Food Security in Astana, Kazakhstan and other offices, as may be established. The Director General, appointed by the General Assembly for a four-year term, which can be renewed once, is carefully selected from Member State nominations, ensuring equal opportunity while prioritizing competence, integrity, and experience. The Director General holds accountability to both the Executive Board and General Assembly, exercising direct authority over the entire Secretariat staff.

The Director General assumes the following responsibilities: 

a) Implementation of the resolutions and policies of the General Assembly. 

b) Preparation of draft budgets and follow up of their execution once approved by the General Assembly. 

c) Management of the financial and administrative affairs of the Organization and adoption of the measures necessary for the organization of work and the application of prescribed rules and regulations. 

d) Safe-keeping and management of the Organization’s funds and resources and effective and rational use thereof. 

e) Follow up of the collection of mandatory financial contributions from Member States in accordance with the scales fixed by the General Assembly.
