What is IOFS?
The Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS) is a specialized institution of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
What is the mission of IOFS?
The strategic mission of the IOFS is to ensure sustainable food security in Member States through the systematic implementation of programs in agriculture, science & technology, trade & investments and humanitarian aid.
Where is IOFS located?
The headquarters of IOFS is located in Astana, Kazakhstan.
How is IOFS funded?
The activities of the IOFS are financed by mandatory and voluntary contributions of Member States, donations, funds for specific projects, as well as revenues from publications and services.
What is the organizational structure of the IOFS?
I. IOFS General Assembly consists of the Food Security and Agricultural Ministers and delegates of IOFS Member States; II. IOFS Executive Board consists of eight representatives elected every three years, including Kazakhstan as a permanent member. The Executive Board Session is held twice a year. ; III. The IOFS Secretariat is headed by the Director General and operates in accordance with the Statute, IOFS Financial and Personal Regulations and administered by the Host Agreement.

According to the 1996 World Food Summit, food security is defined when all people, at all times, have physical and economic access to sufficient safe and nutritious food that meets their dietary needs and food preferences for an active and healthy life.
