On 28th November, a meeting was held between the Deputy General Director of IOFS, Amb. Hameed Opeloyeru and Managing Director of NC “Food Corporation” at the headquarters of IOFS. The parties discussed prospects of bilateral relations within the framework of the development of the Grain Fund and the international IFPA program.
The meeting started with a presentation of activities of NC “Food Corporation”. The Food Corporation ensures food security of Kazakhstan through quantitative and qualitative preservation of grain reserves, contributes to stabilization of the domestic grain market and development of export.
Amb. Hameed Opeloyeru presented the concept of the Grain Fund and spoke about its aim to ensure food security in Member countries through coordination of national policies in the national food reserves domain. In addition, the Grain Fund would monitor the volume of food production and prices of essential food products; collect, process and analyze data to ensure sufficient food supply in the region.
The parties agreed to collaborate within the framework of implementation of Grain Fund and IFPA programs to achieve their common goals of stabilizing prices and increasing food production, promoting solidarity within the OIC states, providing appropriate responses to emergency situations and assisting socio-economic development in the region.
