On August 4, 2022 IOFS Director General HE Mr. Yerlan A. Baidaulet within the visit to Jordan had several meetings with authorities.
First bilateral meeting was held with Jordan Agricultural Engineers Association. Established in 1966, the Association is the main platform for developing scientific inventions to raise research potential of the country through organising agricultural, educational and training programmes of all levels. Its mandate also includes promotion, protection, and enhancement of entrepreneurship and innovation within the agri sector, advocating interests of domestic food producers, exporters and retailers, consulting and expert assistance in the implementation of food safety standards, and participating in policy regulation of the agricultural sector.
The IOFS delegation and Association discussed prospects of future cooperation and expressed their interest to jointly organize mutual projects.
Another important meeting was conducted with the Director General of the Inter-Islamic Network on Water Resources Development and Management (INWRDAM), Eng.Emad Alraqad. INWRDAM as a non-governmental, autonomous organization operates under the umbrella of the Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation (COMSTECH) of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC). The two sides have discussed on strengthening of bilateral cooperation and emphasized the importance that the IOFS attaches to the water and irrigation sector, as one of the important points in the organization’s strategic framework.
Following the day programm IOFS delegation held a meeting with Deputy Foreign Minister, HE Mr.Hazim Alkhateb. IOFS Director General provided an overview of the key value proposition of IOFS, elaborated on the implementation of the IOFS humanitarian projects on the Afghanistan Food Security Programme and activities under the “Year of Africa” Program. Other points included exploring a membership procedures and its benefits for the country and parties expressed mutual hope to prompt settlement of the Jordan accession to the IOFS.
Aside from that Mr.Yerlan A.Baidaulet was engaged in the meeting held with the Director General of the Islamic Academy of Sciences, Prof. Abdullah Musa. To expand the pursuit for wider cooperation and being a science advisory body of the OIC parties signed a Memorandum of Understanding that helps to identify and explore the key opportunity and growth areas to provide a platform for knowledge and experience exchange between OIC researchers. Within the memorandum institutions agreed to jointly organise IOFS-IAS high level conference in 2023.
