IOFS’S SECOND DAY OF WORKING VISITS TO THE KINGDOM OF MOROCCO

The second day of the visit of the His Excellency Yerlan BAUDAULET, Director General of IOFS, he was accompanied by H.E. Mrs. Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the kingdom of Morocco, and Mr. Sofian Ben Mouaddeb, Senior Country Manager at IOFS, was full of activities and talks with a number of Moroccan officials to discuss ways and means to continue the implementation of the activities and programs of the IOFS in the member states, as well as reviewing the most important strategic plans and programs that shape Moroccan policy in The field of agricultural development and food security, where H.E.DG of IOFS had a meeting with Dr. Faouzi Bekkaoui, Director of the National Institute for Agronomic Research (INRA), during which he was briefed on the most important activities of the Institute and discussed strengthening cooperation with the organization, especially with regard to joint programs and activities that correspond to the ten-years strategy of IOFS. In this regard, DG of IOFS, stressed the importance of linking researchers from both sides to exchange experiences in research activities of common interest.




The DG also had a meeting at the Ministry of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development, Water and Forestry, with His Excellency Redhouane Arrach, the Secretary General of the Ministry, This meeting was devoted to presenting an overview of the working programme of IOFS for the year 2022, while emphasizing the Afghanistan food security program (AFSP), as well as the implementation plan for Africa, by highlighting the most important trends regarding these two programs, and requesting Moroccan side to consider the possibility of contributing and providing the necessary support for both programs.



From his side, the Secretary General greeted the noble efforts of IOFS to support Member States in the field of food security and provide humanitarian assistance to countries in need, while expressing the Ministry's willingness to strengthen cooperation with IOFS, by putting its expertise and experiences to the benefit of the organization to support it in implementing its programs and strategy. He also presented the main axes of the Green Generation Strategy that Morocco began its implementation after the completion of the Green Morocco Plan in 2021.



His Excellency the Director General, also had a meeting with the DG of the Agricultural Development Agency (ADA) and his staff, during which an overview of the activities carried out by the two institutions was briefly presented. In addition, both side agreed to continue the consultation between the specialists of the two parties to establish a draft of MoU and an action plan, and to sign it as soon as possible.

During the same day, H.E. the DG, was received in audience, by H.E. Mr. Fouad Yazourh, Director General at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates of the kingdom of Morocco, during this meeting, they reviewed the excellent relations of cooperation between the two parties. On this occasion, the DG of IOFS, emphasized the critical situation through which the Islamic world is passing due to the crisis between Russia and Ukraine, and its negative effects on the commerce of strategic agricultural products as well as the prices raise of agricultural products, Mr. Yazourh, point out, the crucial role that IOFS have to play during this very difficult period of post COVID and the regional conflict which affect and further aggravate the situation of Food Security of the OIC member states. he also expressed Morocco's readiness to provide all required support to IOFS, in order to help it to accomplish and succeed its delicate mission, especially for African Member States, given the African dimension that Morocco attaches to strengthening cooperation with African countries.
