On October 28, 2019, Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mr. Rashad Mammadov met Mr. Yerlan A. Baidaulet, Director General and Amb. Hameed Opeloyeru, Deputy Director General of the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS) to discuss accession of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the IOFS and areas of cooperation.
IOFS Director General told about the milestones of establishment of the organization and the activities since 2011 till nowadays. He also underlined that important institutional resolutions were adopted by the Second General Assembly held in Jeddah, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia on August 27-29, 2019.
Ambassador Opeloyeru told about the mission of the IOFS as well as the need to tackle food security issues on a regional level.
H.E. Mammadov assured the counterparts that the Republic of Azerbaijan has an intention to enter the IOFS, and the necessary documents are being considered at the level of Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Agriculture of Azerbaijan.
