On April 20, 2022 a next monthly meeting was held between the Director General of Islamic Organization for Food Security, H.E. Mr. Yerlan A. Baidaulet and the Chairman of the IOFS General Assembly, Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan H.E. Mr. Yerbol Sh. Karashukeyev.
Parties discussed the current status of key IOFS strategic programs and projects, including development of the livestock and sheep sectors in Member States, the Grain Fund, the Regional Food Security Reserve Pilot Project, and prospects of strengthening national food security systems by establishing a coordinating mechanism.
Other highlights of the discussion included Afghanistan Food Security Program, state official got acquainted with recent IOFS delegation visit to Afghanistan and exchanged views on further feasible steps of Kazakhstan in providing humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan.
H.E. Yerbol Sh. Karashukeyev has also been invited to the upcoming IOFS High-Level Forum on Food Security that will be co-hosted by the IOFS and the Kazakh National Agrarian Research University on 8-9 June 2022 in Almaty, Kazakhstan, as well as the official reception hosted by the IOFS Secretariat on the occasion of the Eid Al-Fitr feast on May 3.
The meeting was also represented by Mr. Khamiyev Azamat and Mr. Bakytzhan Arystanbek from IOFS Secretariat.
Parties expressed their strong commitment to further developing a collaboration and agreed to continue mutual discussions to exactly define the framework for effective implementation of the previously joint Action Plan.
