IOFS discussed its recent activities with the Minister of Agriculture

   On October 16, Director General held a meeting with Minister of Agriculture H.E. Mr. Saparkhan Omarov and discussed recent work undertaken to institutionalize the organization. Director General informed the Minister about his trip to Moscow undertaken to establish contact with Minister of Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) Mr. Alexander Subbotin and Director of Eurasian Centre for Food Security at Lomonosov Moscow State University Mr. Sergey Shoba.
    The meeting also involved discussions about other trips undertaken by IOFS representatives, such as trip to Almaty — to assist development of halal industry in the region; to Baku — to cooperate with Islamic commerce chambers for strategic commodities and to facilitate Azerbaijan to join IOFS; and a trip to Ankara — to discuss food security and agricultural development within COMCEC OIC.
Islamic Organization for Food Security expressed gratitude to the government represented by Ministry of Agriculture for assisting to solve problems with office rent in the context of agreement with AIFC.
    IOFS is also waiting for signage of TA grant from Islamic Development Bank by the Ministry of Agriculture and external consultant.
    IOFS also expressed hope that the Ministry would facilitate organization of Third General Assembly in 2020.
    Following the meeting, the Minister has given relevant instructions on further work with IOFS to the Ministry staff.
   Deputy Director General Dr. Hameed Opeloyeru and Senior Expert of Department for International Collaboration at Ministry of Agriculture Alina Stashkova were present at the meeting.
