IOFS Discusses Cooperation with ICYF
29 October 2021

Under instructions of His Excellency Mr. Yerlan Baidaulet, the Director General of the Islamic Organization of Food Security (IOFS), Mr. Abdula Manafi Mutualo, Senior Liaison Officer, on 28 October 2021, was received by Mr. Muhammad Mahli, Coordinator of the Cabinet, at the headquarters of the Islamic Cooperation Youth Forum (ICYF) in Istanbul, Republic of Turkey, after attending the 8th Ministerial Conference on Food Security and Agricultural Development (MCFSAD) that closed on the previous day.

The first of its kind, the visit was to initiate joint consultations on potential areas of cooperation, taking into account that youth is an important societal fabric in changing mentality towards all relevant agenda items in the interest of ensuring food security in OIC geography and beyond.

The two sides agreed that the ICYF would study the IOFS Strategic Vision 2031 to then recommend areas of future joint endeavours, in particular the possibility of including IOFS related subjects in ICYF youth capacity building, including the yearly held Model of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (MOIC), as well as entertaining the idea of encouraging youth entrepreneurs to design applicable food waste/conservation/security startups.

The two OIC Institutions agreed for continued consultations and that all other relevant OIC and international fora would be an opportunity for personal exchanges on issues discussed at the meeting and other matters of mutual concern that may arise in future.
