On 9 September 2021, during the Ministerial Session of the 4th IOFS General Assembly, the Director-General of Islamic Organisation for Food Security (IOFS) H.E. Mr. Yerlan A. Baidaulet signed Memoranda of Understandings (MoU) with Islamic Centre for Development of Trade (ICDT) and International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA) to strengthen cooperation within the framework of the above-mentioned agreements.
Herewith, MoU was signed by H.E. Latifa EL-BOUABDELLAOUI, Director-General of ICDT and H.E. Mr. Yerlan A. Baidaulet, Director General of IOFS. In line with this Agreement, the parties jointly will be facilitating the exchange of knowledge as a priority in food and agriculture security based on current and future initiatives, strategies, operations and projects in accordance with the policies and procedures of the respective Parties. Special attention will be given to Promoting trade and investment in agri-food sector thru co-organizing exhibitions, business forums, trade missions and B2B meetings among Member States. Cooperating in issuing agri-food trade and investment data of Member Countries.
Important to note, that the cooperation in the above-outlined fields and other activities is described in the Joint Action Plan which is an important part of this signed MoU.
Furthermore, MoU was signed by Mr. Aly Abousabaa, Director-General of ICARDA and Mr. Yerlan A. Baidaulet, Director General of IOFS. Under the MoU both parties intend to cooperate in order to reduce poverty and enhance food, water, and nutritional security in OIC member countries. Through this agreement, parties will jointly development of strategic commodities, biodiversity and conservation of plant and transboundary pest control management.

The International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA) is an international organization that undertakes research-for-development to provide innovative, science-based solutions for communities across the non-tropical dry areas.
