HE Davlatali Said, who oversees the economic block in the Government, has mentioned the country strategy and vision on food security and the importance of the role of such organizations as IOFS in promoting food security, especially taking into account the current situation of import dependency on food products in the countries in the region and globally. Also, HE Davlatali Said was very interested in opening the country and regional markets and agricultural and food industry investments prospects for cooperation under the framework of all IOFS programs.
Following the day program, HE Yerlan A. Baidaulet met with the Minister of the Agriculture of Tajikistan, HE Sulaymon Ziyozoda Rizoi. During the meeting, the Director-General of IOFS HE Yerlan A. Baidaulet expressed his gratitude to the Minister for active participation in the activities of the Organization, particularly in active participation at the International Conference organized by the IOFS in cooperation with the OIC Secretariat and the UN Summit FSS at the UN World Food Systems Summit 2021 as an Interregional South-South Cooperation Dialogue "Best Practices for Building Sustainable Food Systems in the OIC Region" on July 14, 2021.
HE Sulaymon Ziyozoda Rizoi made a brief statistics-wise overview of food and basic agricultural production, related country programs, and challenges in production, logistics, export, and pest control in the country. During the meeting, the Minister mentioned applied water-saving technologies, and governmental programs addressed to increase vineyards, forage crops production, and export promotion of fruit and vegetables, as well as the potential of Tajikistan in early onion supply (the country has more than 500 000 tons ready-for-exports in April-June), grapes, apricots, and seasonal fresh fruit and vegetables.
Also, the General Director of IOFS HE Yerlan A. Baidaulet informed HE Sulaymon Ziyozoda about the 4th General Assembly of the IOFS, to be held in Nur-Sultan in online format on September 8-9, 2021. The Minister stressed the importance of maintaining the IOFS programs, confirmed the ministry delegation’s participation in the upcoming Assembly and emphasized his personal supervision of all activities under the strategic IOFS framework.
