The Director-General of IOFS, HE Yerlan A. Baidaulet had yet another eventful day of meetings in Amman, the capital of Jordan. The Head of the IOFS delegation was accompanied by Kazakhstan's Ambassador to Jordan, HE Aidarbek A. Toumatov, and Mr.Safwan Alsaaideh, the IOFS Financial Manager.
The Director General started his meetings by one with the Chairman of the Jordan Investment Commission, HE Fareedon Hartoqa. The parties discussed potential areas of collaboration, especially in the field of investment and trade between OIC countries, HE Fareedon Hartoqa stressed the importance of IOFS programs in coordinating strategic efforts to achieve sustainable food security in Islamic countries as well to improve and develop intra-OIC food supply chains. The Head of the state investment body agreed to provide several food sector projects to the IOFS Secretariat for their processing under the D/14 National Food Sector Development in cooperation with IPAs. In fact, this Agency is a member of WAIPA that is one of partners of IOFS.
Following the day program, HE Yerlan A. Baidaulet, visited Al-Waala Agricultural Station, which has more than 70 years of experience and is one under the department of agricultural projects of the Ministry of Agriculture. During the greenhouse complex’s visit the local management gave a brief about production systems and hydroponics and aquaculture technologies used.
Moreover, HE Yerlan A. Baidaulet visited as part of his site visit to Al-Jeeza Provence an Al-Masiyah Smart Farms presented by its CEO Saad Daraghmeh and Technical director Eng. Abdulqadir Al-Gaylani.
The company was founded in 2018 and had developed the unique commercial aquaponic production smart farm in Jordan with about 90% local resources and materials. Al-Masiyah had succeeded in developing production systems for 58 types of vegetables and fruits, 5 types of fish in uniquely designed production units with about 85% less water consumed in comparison to traditional farming over a span of 5-6 years of research and development. Such advanced agri-enterprise has a lot of market advantages as easy-built and light domes, using geothermal renewable energy sourcing, a whole eco-system oriented on harmony of all components of the production cycle. It synchronizes co-existance of different crops and fishery (incl. decorative ones) by minimizing energy and water resources. DG of IOFS expressed the necessity to promote such high-tech farms among other OIC member countries.
