The Director-General of IOFS, HE Yerlan A. Baidaulet on Wednesday 4 August, held high-level meetings in Amman, the capital of Jordan. The Head of IOFS delegation was accompanied by Kazakhstan's Ambassador to Jordan, HE Aidarbek A. Toumatov, and Mr.Safwan Alsaaideh, the IOFS Financial Manager.
On the first day of the visit, HE Yerlan A. Baidaulet started his meetings with HE Khaled Musa Al Hanifat, Minister of Agriculture; during the meeting, the Director General provided an overview of key IOFS programs where the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan can play a strategic role.
Furthermore, other important points were discussed that focused on the IOFS 2031 Vision Strategy to be presented on the 4th IOFS General Assembly on 8-9 September as well on the IFPA to play as B2B mechanism for improving Food Security and setting up Food supply chains among OIC countries.
In addition, the Director General highlighted the critical importance of Jordan joining the IOFS in the near future. From his side the Minister of Agriculture expressed his support for all the proposals discussed, and the clear intention of Jordanian government to join IOFS through signing the Statute in next months. At the end of the meeting, the two parties agreed to continue bilateral consultations and exchange official letters.
Thereafter, HE Ambassador Youssef Batayneh, Secretary-General of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, welcomed HE Yerlan A. Baidaulet in his office, where the meeting started with emphasizing the great humanitarian role that Jordan plays in hosting refugees from several countries, besides an overview on the establishment of IOFS, structure, strategic programs, and the IOFS Humanitarian Profile.
During the discussion, several strategic points were focused on the intention of opening the IOFS Humanitarian Office in Jordan and establishing the IOFS Grain Fund. Where HE Youssef Batayneh expressed the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan's full support and willingness to cooperate actively with IOFS Secretariat on its strategic agenda.
