Islamic Organization for Food Security signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the government of the United Arab Emirates

On June 11, Director-General of IOFS H.E. Yerlan A. Baidaulet met with H.E. Mariam bint Mohammed Almheiri, Minister of State for Food and Water Security during her working trip to Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan to sign a Memorandum of Understanding.

The Memorandum aims to strengthen bilateral relations between the parties and expand cooperation in food security by supporting agricultural enterprises in the OIC countries and implementing IOFS strategic programs. The document will be valid for two years from June 2021 to July 2022 and might be renewed with the consent of the parties.

The Memorandum covers cooperation in events such as the OIC forum on raising awareness of food security issues. The forum will be discussed with governments, universities, academia and research organizations of the member countries in the framework of international and regional events. Moreover, the UAE government plans to participate in the Food Security Governance Strategy program to share its experience in this area with other member countries.

After the signing of the Memorandum, an official dinner took place. Further, Ms Mkheiri visited the headquarters of the Islamic Organization for Food Security, where she was acquainted with the strategic programs of the IOFS.
