According to the report published by Tetra Pak, a Swedish-Swiss multinational food packaging and processing company, consumer interest in environment-friendly packaging and safe food manufacturing is rising. Research indicates that two-thirds of correspondents equate health with safety. They also express concerns about the impact of modern packaging on food safety and consider sustainable packaging a top priority that food and beverage brands need to focus on. Food loss is another hot topic of the world agenda and is viewed as a major threat by over 70% of global consumers. The Tetra Pak report shows how important it is for the modern food industry to strike the right balance between consumer needs and the environment. This becomes even more relevant as the increasing global population and the COVID-19 pandemic continue to strain the food supply chains, thus demanding more innovative and integrated approaches.
