Director-General of IOFS H.E. Yerlan A.Baidaulet convened an online meeting with Mr. Yousef Juhail, Permanent Representative of Kuwait to FAO. Mr.Yousef Juhail represented H.E Sheikh Mohammad Youssef Al-Sabah, Chairman and Director General of the Public Authority of Agriculture Affairs and Fish Resources of Kuwait in the meeting.
Mr. Yerlan A.Baidaulet started the virtual meeting with Mr.Yousef Juhail, and other delegates from the State of Kuwait, by emphasizing the importance of the State of Kuwait as a valuable full-fledged Member State and sending Ramadan warm wishes from IOFS. Thereafter, during the meeting the Director-General gave an overview on the establishment of IOFS, structure, strategic programs, and the IOFS Humanitarian Profile.
Mr.Yousef Juhail thanked the IOFS Secretariat for providing such a thorough presentation and fully supported the IOFS strategic programs and Humanitarian Profile. Several strategic programs were focused during the discussion (Development of National Gene Banks, National Food Sectors Development in cooperation with state investment agencies, IOFS Food Balance Database, Food Humanitarian programs (Flour for Humanity, Qurbani Meat)) where Mr.Yousef Juhail expressed the State of Kuwait’s willingness to cooperate actively with IOFS regarding the technical implementation. At the end of the meeting, the two parties agreed to continue bilateral consultations and decide on further actions upon clearance of the COVID-19 situation.
