Director-General of IOFS H.E. Yerlan Baidaulet and Sheikh Bilal Khan, Head of IFPA Project Office held an online meeting with Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research of Pakistan H.E. Syed Fakhar Imam.
Director-General presented all flagship programmes of IOFS to the Minister that now have been grouped into five categories:
1. OIC Plan of Action for Strategic Commodities (Wheat, Cassava, Rice, Palm Oil)
2. OIC Food Security Reserves (OIC Food Security Reserves, Grain Fund)
3. OIC STI Agenda 2026 (Development of National Gene Banks, Food Safety and Halal Food Development, Transboundary Pest Control Management, Water Management in Agriculture)
4. Private Sector Driven Agro-Food Trade and Investment Promotion (Islamic Food Processing Association, Food Balance Database, Food Security Governance, National Food Sectors Development in Cooperation with State Investment Agencies)
5. Food Humanitarian Programmes (Flour for Humanity, Qurbani Meat).
Sheikh Bilal Khan provided a comprehensive review of the IFPA programme, explaining its mission, objectives and legal aspects.
Mr. Syed Fakhar Imam reviewed Pakistan’s potential in agriculture, noting its strengths, weaknesses, and key aspects that need to be addressed. The Federal Minister said that he looks forward to the Third General Assembly to examine all IOFS programmes in more detail. Sides agreed to establish a close relationship on all discussed issues of bilateral cooperation.
