Director-General meets the Ambassador of Turkey
19 October 2020

Director-General of IOFS H.E. Yerlan Baidaulet met H.E. Ufuk Ekici Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey and his Second Secretary Mr. Buğra Sır on October 19, 2020.

Director-General briefed the Ambassador about the upcoming events, including the Third General Assembly to be held online under the chairmanship of Turkey in December. Turkey is a strategic partner of IOFS that has been providing strong support to the organisation from the very beginning. The Republic of Turkey has recently ratified the Statute, on July 20, 2020.

Mr. Sheikh Bilal explained the B2B concept of IFPA in great detail and listed the benefits it would provide such as the regulatory database, eliminating barriers to trade, improving the efficiency of business operations, attracting international investments and other. The Secretariat analysed production and processing expertise of each country and compiled all of that data in Food Balance Database (available on IOFS website). This information also takes into account their geopolitical locations and trade relationships with other countries. It is important to note the OIC/IOFS market that IFPA intends to create will not be exclusively Muslim and will cater to the needs of non-Muslims too.
