On August 24, Director-General of IOFS Mr. Yerlan A. Baidaulet convened a meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Mr. Shahrat Sh. Nuryshev and the Vice Minister of Agriculture of Kazakhstan, Mr. Nurbek S. Dairbekov, as well as the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Mr. Berik Aryn.
During the meeting, the sides discussed the current state of affairs at the IOFS, its on-going projects and programmes aimed at developing trade, economic, investment and humanitarian cooperation between the member states and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).
A special theme for discussion included proposals from the Kazakhstani side on the importance of developing and expanding transport and logistics infrastructure between the OIC countries, as well as paying more attention to strengthening mutual trade between the IOFS/OIC member countries.
The parties also exchanged views on the need for an integrated approach to ensuring national food security. The IOFS Secretariat announced its readiness to provide the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan with comprehensive support on this issue and share best international practices of building food systems.
