
The Standards and Metrology Institute for Islamic Countries (SMIIC) and Turkey’s Independent Industrialists and Business Association (MUSAID) signed on Thursday (Mar 5) two agreements to improve halal standardization capacity, according to Anadolu Agency.
SMIIC and MUSAID have agreed to create a monitoring and traceability system for halal conformity assessment activities, said the state news agency.
The other agreement relates to both Istanbul-based parties organizing events to raise awareness of halal standardization.
No other details were provided.
SMIIC is a body of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) that works to harmonize standards and prepare new ones towards eliminating technical barriers to trade.
