The delegation of the Islamic Organisation for Food Security (IOFS) led by Director-General Mr. Yerlan Baidaulet held a meeting with the Vice Minister of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan Mr. Askaruly Azamat.
The interlocutors discussed the possibility of developing trade and economic cooperation between the IOFS/OIC countries, promoting Halal food standards and export development within the Islamic Food Processing Association (IFPA). IFPA would create favorable conditions for the further development of the food industry and its export potential by attracting Islamic finance and investment, exchanging information and strengthening international trade and economic cooperation between the OIC member countries.
The participants also agreed to consider the possibility of holding joint events in 2020 (meetings of the working group, seminar, and conferences) aimed at developing trade and the agro-industry of Kazakhstan.
It should be noted that Kazakhstan plans to open a network of wholesale distribution centers in Central Asia for export and offers the IOFS to strengthen food security through the creation of a one-shop-stop for agricultural producers, and the increase in mutual trade and price stabilization.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to consider the possibility of signing a strategic cooperation agreement between the IOFS and the Ministry of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
