1150th anniversary of a renowned Islamic scholar and philosopher Al-Farabi is to be celebrated within the Organisation for Islamic Cooperation.
Kazakhstani delegation took part in the 43rd session of the Islamic Commission for Economic, Cultural and Social Affairs (ICECS) on February 4-11 at headquarters of OIC in preparation for the 47th session of CFM scheduled for April 3-4 in Niamey, Niger. The delegation was headed by Ambassador of RK to KSA and Permanent Representative of OIC Mr. Berik Aryn; Director of Middle Eastern and African department at MFA E. Mukash and General Council of RK T. Shaldanbay also were present.
Political, economic, social and cultural issues were discussed extensively during the session. Items for discussion also included collaboration in science & technology, healthcare, family, water resources, climate change, and environmental affairs were all at the agenda.
A number of projects and resolutions related to foreign political initiatives have been approved, including Islamic Reconciliation, Islamic Organisation for Food Security, AIFC, Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, OIC-15 Dialogue Platform with the participation of leading Muslim states in science & technology, etc.
Member states of OIC unanimously supported Kazakhstan’s proposal to celebrate the 1150th anniversary of Abu Nasr Al-Farabi within OIC.
Kazakhstani delegation partook at several bilateral meetings. During negotiations with Vice-Rector of Islamic Technological University in Dakka (Bangladesh) Dr. Omar Jakh, sides agreed upon celebration of Al Farabi at the university.
At a meeting with the Permanent Representative of Turkey at OIC, Saleh Mutlu Shen, which was held in conjunction with Director of IOFS, E. Baidaulet, the Turkish side expressed its readiness to hold the Third meeting of the IOFS General Assembly in Turkey in 2020.
