IOFS and Seifullin Kazakh Agrotechnical University (KATU) signed a memorandum of mutual cooperation on joint research in agriculture and food security. H.E. IOFS Director General Yerlan Baidaulet and KATU Chairperson Marat Tireuov inked the document on Jan. 18 during an official ceremony.
The memorandum envisages joint scientific research, creation and implementation of joint projects and programs and exchange of experience and knowledge. Additionally, the parties signed a joint Action Plan, which envisages 21 activities in 9 main directions. It covers livestock extension, water management in agriculture, climate impact, transboundary pest control and more.
As per the plan, IOFS will work with Barayev Scientific Production Center for Grain Farming on wheat development and will jointly create an agro-environmental climatic observatory.
IOFS will also provide KATU with assistance in establishing cooperation with scientific and educational organizations of the OIC member countries and in holding training, scholarship programs and summer schools. The parties are interested in facilitating the training of high-quality personnel.
The Director General expressed his gratitude to KATU leadership and scientists, hoping that the cooperation will be fruitful and stressing the importance of continuous interaction.
“Today’s signature is tomorrow’s responsibility,” highlighted Mr. Tireuov.
KATU representatives invited the IOFS delegation to take a look at their laboratories, including those working with biotechnological innovations, production and processing of agricultural products and digitalization in the agro-industrial complexБ and presented their ongoing research.
The IOFS representatives showed great interest in the university's scientific work and are ready to share their experiences.
