IOFS HOLDS CHILDREN’S CHARITY DRAWING CONTEST IN HONOR OF IOFS DAY
12 December 2022

The Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS), as part of IOFS Day and the Year of Africa program, held a charity drawing contest among children from orphanages. The awarding ceremony took place during the IOFS Day celebration.

Children from four Centers for Supporting Children in Difficult Life Situations in Astana, Karagandy, Akkol and Ekibastuz took part in the contest, submitting 66 beautiful artworks. The IOFS chose eight winners in two age categories. The winners received participation certificates, prizes and gift boxes.

Children from the age of five to 10 submitted works depicting their idea of how Africa looks. Children aged 11 to 16 drew a picture of a gift they would present their future friend from Africa.
Notably, 250 children from all four centers will receive a box of sweets from IOFS in partnership with Magnum Cash & Carry. The Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Kazakhstan will also send a generous batch of dates to all the children.

“It should be noted that this is a pilot project that we intend to extend to all Member States whenever we celebrate the IOFS Day starting in 2023. I trust you all will be our ambassadors in spreading the word to reach children scattered within the OIC Geography. We want to see children’s perspective of all the challenges we face when it comes to food security and agricultural development,” said IOFS Director General Yerlan Baidaulet.
