On 23 May 2023, His Excellency Prof. Yerlan A. Baidaulet, the Director General of the Islamic Organization of Food Security (IOFS), was received at the Office of His Excellency Mr. Ebubekir Gizligider, Vice Minister of Agriculture and Forestry of the Republic of Türkiye, in Ankara to review latest developments related with the Organization’s work, as well as the bilateral cooperation in common areas of interest in the field of food security and agricultural development.
The meeting was productive in assurances provided by the host on his country's unwavering support to facilitate the work of the IOFS. In this context, it was agreed that a number of Research Centers at different Ministries active in the field of food security and agricultural development are to be connected with the IOFS. The two sides also exchanged views on how Türkiye could kindly support the implementation of IOFS 2031 Strategic Vision, particularly in initiatives related to Food Banks, Food Security Governance, Smart Agriculture in the face of Climate Change, IOFS Healthy and Safe Food Ecosystem, and Centers of Excellence for Organic Farming.
During the discussions, the Director General was assisted by Mr. Said Hussein Iid, IOFS Special Envoy for Africa, and Dr. Suat Atan, Programme Manager, while the host was accompanied by Mr. Ahmet Volkan Güngören, Deputy Director General of Directorate General for European Union and Foreign Relations in Republic of Türkiye’s Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.
