Malé, Maldives, 3-4 February 2025 - The Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS), in collaboration with The Maldives National University (MNU), successfully held the technical sessions of the Conference on Climate-Resilient Agriculture for Food Security in the Maldives. The sessions were discussed by Dr. Abdelaziz Hajjaji, IOFS Program Manager, along with international experts from Malta, GGGI, Qatar, Somalia, Pakistan, Türkiye, and the Maldives. These discussions focused on climate-smart agriculture, land and water management, vertical farming, Hydroponic, Hoticulture, entreneurship, sustainable fisheries, and nature-based solutions (NbS) Digital Innovation and Financial Inclusion to enhance food security and resilience in island nations.
The technical sessions highlighted the urgency of integrating climate-smart technologies, sustainable fisheries management, and NbS into national food security strategies.
Moving forward, efforts will focus on:
- Develop policy recommendations and capacity-building programs for Maldivian stakeholders.
- Facilitate technology transfer and knowledge-sharing initiatives with OIC member states.
- Support investment mobilization for climate-resilient agriculture and fisheries projects.
