Astana, Kazakhstan - On 15 May 2024, the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS) welcomed a distinguished delegation from the National Defense University of Pakistan at its headquarters in Astana. The visit, part of a Foreign Study Tour to Kazakhstan, signifies a key moment in strengthening bilateral relations and deepening collaboration between Pakistan and the IOFS.
The international delegation led by the Pakistan National Defense University aimed to engage in a comprehensive interaction with policymakers, intellectuals, government bodies, universities, international organizations, and local think tanks. The primary objective was to gain insights into the workings and priority focus areas of the IOFS, and to exchange views on various pertinent topics.
Upon their arrival, the delegation was warmly welcomed by His Excellency Ambassador Berik Aryn, the Director-General of the IOFS. H.E. Ambassador Aryn provided an overview of the IOFS's mission and its pivotal role in assisting OIC Member States in achieving food security amidst prevalent challenges. The discussion emphasized the importance of collaborative efforts in addressing food security concerns across the globe.
Following the introduction, Professor Dr. Zulfiqar Ali, Director of the Programs and Projects Department at IOFS, delivered a comprehensive presentation on the organization's objectives and initiatives. The Director of PPD elaborated on the longstanding relations between the IOFS and Pakistan, underscoring Pakistan's significance as an important member state within the organization. He highlighted joint activities implemented in the past and outlined future plans for enhanced cooperation.
During the visit, delegates engaged in substantive discussions, exchanging ideas, and exploring potential areas of collaboration between Pakistan and the IOFS.
The delegation expressed appreciation for the warm reception and insightful discussions during their visit to the IOFS headquarters. They reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to actively contributing to the organization's objectives and fostering closer ties with Kazakhstan and other member states.
