Strengthening Cooperation Between IOFS and Belarus on Food Security and Agricultural Development

Astana, Kazakhstan – On 18 December 2024, the Director General of the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS), H.E. Ambassador Berik Aryn, received the Ambassador of the Republic of Belarus to Kazakhstan, H.E. Pavel Utyupin, to discuss potential cooperation opportunities.

During the meeting, both sides expressed interest in expanding collaboration, particularly in the areas of food security, sustainable agriculture, and humanitarian assistance. The Director General provided an overview of IOFS's mission, focusing on its efforts to address food security challenges across the OIC Member States through sustainable agricultural practices, technical assistance, and capacity building.

The Ambassador highlighted Belarus’s capabilities in the agricultural sector and the potential for sharing expertise and technology to support agricultural development in the OIC region. Both sides agreed to explore joint initiatives, including those aligned with Belarus’s ongoing involvement in Africa and other OIC Member States.

The meeting concluded with a commitment to further cooperation to tackle global food security challenges and promote sustainable development across the OIC geography.
