26 August 2024

During President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev's official visit to Tajikistan, a trade and investment forum was held to discuss opportunities for deepening cooperation and attracting investments between the two countries. Agriculture emerged as a key area, with Kazakhstan aiming to double its agricultural product exports over the next five years. Minister of Agriculture Aidarbek Saparov highlighted that Kazakhstan produces agricultural products worth $20 billion annually, with exports exceeding $5 billion. He outlined plans to boost mutual trade, expand export opportunities, attract investments, and establish joint production ventures. Tajikistan, a traditional importer of Kazakh grain and vegetable oil, plans to increase its fruit and vegetable exports to Kazakhstan and explore opportunities for cooperation in livestock and poultry farming. The forum also highlighted successful collaborations, such as a sunflower oil production project involving a Tajik company in Kazakhstan's Aktobe region. Kazakhstan expressed its readiness to support Tajik investors and invest in Tajikistan's agricultural sector, as well as to cooperate in science and innovation, as confirmed by the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the ministries of the two countries.
