Kazakh Ecology Minister Yerlan Nyssanbayev announced the establishment of a Global Low-Carbon Platform in Kazakhstan during the CICA Ministerial Conference, which focused on forming the CICA Environmental Council. This conference, attended by representatives from 26 countries, the Green Climate Fund, and the International Financial Corporation, underscored Kazakhstan’s commitment to addressing environmental challenges like climate change, air and water pollution, and biodiversity loss. Nyssanbayev highlighted Kazakhstan's goals to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, plant two billion trees by 2025, and tackle the looming water shortage, estimated at 12 to 15 billion cubic meters. CICA Secretary General Kairat Sarybay emphasized that the conference represents a significant step in regional collaboration to address environmental threats and promote sustainable development through shared expertise and joint efforts.
