22 August 2024

Kazakhstan and China have been discussing issues related to grain exports, with a focus on enhancing agricultural trade. Kazakh Minister of Agriculture Aidarbek Saparov and Wang Jianjun, Director of China's National Development and Reforms Commission, held a meeting to address this. Saparov highlighted the significant increase in agricultural trade, noting a rise to $1.3 billion in 2023 and $648.1 million in the first half of 2024. He emphasized Kazakhstan's goal to boost grain exports to China to 2 million tons, with a readiness to supply up to 3 million tons. Wang expressed China's intent to ensure stable and increased grain imports from Kazakhstan, recognizing Kazakhstan as a key supplier. The discussions also covered the development of trade cooperation and logistics, with Kazakhstan having already signed protocols for exporting 28 types of agricultural products and maintaining a list of nearly 2,000 eligible exporting companies.
