During the Government Communication Forum in Amman, Agriculture Minister Khalid Hneifat announced the availability of 600,000 sheep, including 250,000 local and 350,000 imported ones, along with 15,000 calves and 800 camels for Eid al-Adha preparations. Hneifat highlighted that sacrificial livestock prices are contingent on weight and quantities, estimating domestic livestock to range between JD230 and JD280 per head, and imported livestock between JD180 and JD220. Despite global crises and challenges posed by climate change, Hneifat emphasized Jordan's ability to achieve self-sufficiency with minimal losses. He addressed the shortage in lemon production, stating that the market requires 200 tons daily, while local production only amounts to 60 tons, leading to the import of 750 tons of African lemons to alleviate the shortage. Hneifat revealed that the ministry issued 170 licenses for lemon imports from South Africa and Turkey, attributing delays to traders' underutilization of licenses. He anticipated a decrease in lemon prices with the arrival of imported consignments, ensuring market stability.
