Riyadh, Saudi Arabia – 30 November 2024 - In a significant meeting held on the eve of the 16th Conference of the Parties (COP16) to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD), the Director General of the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS), Ambassador Berik Aryn, engaged in a constructive dialogue with H.E. Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Rabeeah, Supervisor General of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSRelief), in Riyadh.
During the meeting, Ambassador Aryn expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for its steadfast support of IOFS, which has been pivotal in enabling the IOFS to carry out its food security programs across member states, including its humanitarian efforts in regions. Ambassador Aryn briefed H.E. Dr. Al Rabeeah on the key humanitarian initiatives of IOFS, including efforts in Afghanistan, Syria, and Gaza, and also outlined plans to initiate targeted humanitarian programs in Yemen and Sudan due to the ongoing critical situations in these countries.
In response, H.E. Dr. Al Rabeeah emphasized KSRelief’s unwavering commitment to addressing food security challenges both within the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) geography and beyond. He expressed strong support for IOFS’s humanitarian efforts and reiterated KSRelief’s readiness to deepen their collaboration in areas of mutual interest, strengthening the partnership to better serve the needs of vulnerable populations.
The discussion focused on exploring future collaborative opportunities, with both parties agreeing to pursue joint initiatives that will directly benefit member states. The exchange highlighted the shared commitment to building on the successful partnership and driving efforts that yield measurable and sustainable impacts.
This meeting marks an important step forward in IOFS’s mission to provide critical humanitarian assistance across the region, with a particular focus on food security and sustainable development.
