Astana, Kazakhstan - On 21 November 2023, the headquarters of the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS) welcomed a delegation of senior government officials from Pakistan as part of their visit to Astana during the 119th National Management Course (NMC) Foreign Study Tour.
During the meeting, IOFS Advisor Mr. Sofian Meddeb provided a comprehensive introduction to the organization, outlining its mission, strategy, and ongoing activities. Meanwhile, Advisor Mr. Abdula Manafi elaborated on IOFS's special mandate for Afghanistan. Program managers Dr. Shahlo Atabaeva, Mrs. Makpal Bulatova and Mr. Talgat Kupeshev highlighted the successful collaborations with Pakistani partners, including the Pakistan Agricultural Research Council (PARC) and University of Agriculture, Faisalabad. They also discussed partnerships with COMSTECH - OIC Standing Committee on Scientific and Technological Cooperation Islamabad.
The Pakistani delegation, comprised of esteemed members such as the Dean of the National School of Public Policy Sir Jamil Afaqi, Pakistan Administrative Service Member Mr. Saulat Saqib, Director Federal Investigation Agency Mr. Muhammad Jafer, Director General of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs Mr. Muhammad Amjad Aziz Qazi, Joint Secretary of the Senate at Parliament House Mr. Hyder Ali, and others, displayed keen interest in IOFS's operations. They enquired about the Organization's techniques and mechanisms for collaborating with Member States, for utilizing agricultural expertise, and determining priority areas.
Following fruitful discussions, both parties mutually agreed to establish ties, recognizing the integrated approach of the IOFS programs that spans across various sectors of the economies of Member States.
