Riyadh, Saudi Arabia — 2 December 2024 - The Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS), in collaboration with the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ICESCO) and the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM), led an important dialogue at the 16th Conference of the Parties (COP16) to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The session focused on addressing the interconnected challenges of water, food, and energy management in arid regions, which are crucial for ensuring sustainable development and climate resilience. At the instruction of H.E. Ambassador Berik Aryn, Director General of the IOFS, Dr. Abdelaziz Hajjaji - IOFS Program Manager emphasized the urgent need for integrated, sustainable solutions and the adoption of innovative technologies to enhance resource efficiency and strengthen climate resilience.

This impactful session, alongside experts from ICESCO and UfM, reinforced IOFS's ongoing commitment to fostering collaborative efforts in tackling the complex issues related to land degradation, water scarcity, and food security in arid regions. Through this dialogue, IOFS continues to advocate for long-term, effective strategies that contribute to a sustainable and secure future for all.
