The Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS) is participating in a high-level workshop hosted by the Arab Gulf Program for Development (AGFUND) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, from June 3-4, 2024. The workshop, which coincides with the week of World Environment Day, bring together stakeholders to discuss critical issues impacting small farmers and food security, including land degradation, migration, conflict, drought, and crop failure. The event focusing on innovative strategies and solutions to enhance soil health, promote sustainable land management, and strengthen agricultural resilience against climate change, aligning with the priorities for COP 16.
The agenda features sessions on financing proposals, agricultural innovations, and the involvement of the private sector, along with panels on soil health and food security. The IOFS representative Dr. Abdelaziz HAJJAJI shared insights and experiences from IOFS initiatives with funding institution aimed at improving agricultural productivity, water management, and sustainable farming practices in African Countries for potential collaboration. This participation underscores IOFS's commitment to collaborating with AGFUND, BADEA, AOAD, Innovative Commission: Climate Change, Food Security, Agriculture and the UNCCD and other stakeholders to develop comprehensive strategies for supporting small farmers and ensuring food security.
