Amman, Jordan, 8 October 2024 - The delegation of the Islamic Organization for Food Security, led by Ambassador Khusrav Noziri, IOFS Assistant Director General, participated as a key partner in the Inter-Islamic Network on Water Resources Development and Management (INWRDAM), 36th General Assembly in Amman, Jordan, 8 -9 October 2024, under the patronage of HRH Prince El Hassan bin Talal.

Ambassador Khusrav Noziri and Dr. Ismail Abdelhamid, Director of the Project Department, attended the opening ceremony and witnessed the Water, Energy, Food, and Ecosystem (WEFE) Hub launch. Dr. Marwan Alraggad, Executive Director of INWRDAM, welcomed the WEFE Nexus participants from international organizations, senior officials, industry experts, academic leaders, and representatives from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and partner countries. WEFE is exploring a comprehensive solution designed to address the interconnected challenges within its four elements. This holistic approach aims to create synergies and foster collaboration, ensuring a more effective and sustainable response to the complexities we face.

Dr. Alraggad emphasized the importance of the Almizan project, a significant initiative focused on placing the benefits of the people—particularly women and youth—at its core. This project highlights the critical role of water resource management as a vital step towards a more inclusive and equitable future.

H.E. Dr. Hani Swilam, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation of Egypt, discussed the current water scarcity challenges facing the MENA region, while also highlighting the advancements in science and the strong capacity for utilizing treated agricultural drainage water.

In conclusion, the 36th General Assembly of INWRDAM marks a pivotal moment for collaboration and innovation in addressing the critical challenges of water resource management in the MENA region. The participation of the Islamic Organization for Food Security underscores the commitment to fostering partnerships that prioritize inclusivity and sustainability.
