IOFS Director General Meets with Iranian Ambassador to Kazakhstan

Astana, Kazakhstan- On 26 July 2024, H.E. Ambassador Berik Aryn, Director General of the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS), held a productive meeting at the IOFS HQ with H.E.  r. Ali Akbar Jowkar, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Ambassador Aryn extended his congratulations to Iran on the successful Presidential election and highlighted the potential for Iran to enrich IOFS's initiatives with its esteemed agricultural expertise and long-standing experience. He acknowledged Iran's pivotal role since becoming one of the first signatories of the IOFS statute on December 10, 2013, during the 40th session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation ( OIC ) Council of Foreign Ministers in Conakry, Guinea. This partnership has significantly fostered agricultural investments and enhanced technological exchange among OIC member countries.

The discussion also highlighted the IOFS's initiative to provide humanitarian aid to the population of Gaza, emphasizing ongoing efforts to gather support for essential food supplies. This collaborative endeavor has already received contributions from some member states, demonstrating a strong commitment to addressing urgent needs.

Ambassador Jowkar expressed appreciation for the detailed briefing on IOFS activities and the warm reception. Both parties reiterated the importance of deepening their cooperation and integrating Iranian expertise into broader IOFS efforts to bolster regional food security.
