Astana, Kazakhstan - 7 August 2024 – His Excellency Ambassador Berik Aryn, Director General of the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS), engaged in high-level meetings today with His Excellency Mochamad Fadjroel Rachman, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Indonesia to the Republic of Kazakhstan, and His Excellency Mohd Adli Bin Abdullah, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Malaysia to the Republic of Kazakhstan. The meetings took place at the respective embassies of Indonesia and Malaysia in Astana.
At the Indonesian Embassy, Ambassador Rachman graciously welcomed H.E. Berik Aryn and his delegation, extending heartfelt congratulations on his recent election as the Director General of IOFS. The discussions centered on fortifying bilateral cooperation, with a focus on capacity building, knowledge sharing in sustainable agriculture, and collaborative initiatives to address food security challenges. Ambassador Rachman reiterated Indonesia’s unwavering support for IOFS initiatives and expressed a strong commitment to achieving shared objectives in food security. H.E. Amb. Berik Aryn took this opportunity to invite Indonesia to join the IOFS and to sign its statute during the forthcoming General Assembly, slated to be held in Astana in 2025.
Subsequently, HE. Berik Aryn and his team were warmly received at the Malaysian Embassy by Ambassador Mohd Adli Bin Abdullah, who also extended his congratulations to the Director General on his prestigious appointment. The discussions commenced with Director General providing a comprehensive overview of IOFS's main mission and its ongoing programs and projects. He highlighted IOFS's dedication to promoting sustainable agricultural practices, enhancing food production, and facilitating trade and investment within the food sector. Specific ongoing initiatives, such as the Gene-Bank, Food Banking, and Water Management programs, were discussed to illustrate IOFS's commitment to innovative and sustainable solutions for food security. Ambassador Abdullah underscored Malaysia's readiness to actively engage in these programs and events, aiming to foster stronger collaborations for the benefit of both nations and the wider Islamic community. Ambassador Aryn also urged Malaysia to join the IOFS and to formalize its commitment by signing the statute at the next General Assembly in Astana in 2025.
These high-level meetings mark a significant step forward in strengthening the partnerships between IOFS, Indonesia, and Malaysia. They pave the way for impactful projects and initiatives that will enhance food security and contribute to the collective well-being of all member nations.
