Astana, Kazakhstan – The Director General of the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS), H.E. Ambassador Berik Aryn visited the A.I. Baraev Research and Production Center of Grain Farming to explore potential initiatives and collaborative projects that could benefit the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

The meeting focused on how Kazakhstan, through its esteemed A.I. Baraev Center, can contribute to the agricultural development and food security objectives of OIC member states. Discussions highlighted the impressive advancements made by the Center in the development of high-quality wheat varieties, including those that are drought and heat tolerant, which are crucial for improving resilience and productivity in regions facing climatic challenges.

During the visit, the Director General and accompanying delegates toured the demonstration fields, where they observed an array of local wheat varieties. The visit showcased the Center’s commitment to innovation and excellence in grain farming, emphasizing its potential as a model for agricultural research and development within the OIC community.

The Director General expressed admiration for the Center’s historical achievements and reaffirmed IOFS’s commitment to fostering cooperation in agricultural research and development. “The advancements here at the A.I. Baraev Center are not only impressive but also critical for addressing food security challenges faced by many of our member states. We look forward to developing partnerships that will leverage these innovations for the benefit of all OIC countries,” he said.
