IOFS Conducted a Bilateral Meeting with the UAE Ministry of Climate Change and Environment

Prof. Yerlan Alimzhanuly Baidaulet, Director General of IOFS and Chairman of International Islamic Food Processing Association (IFPA) met with H.E. Mariam Almheiri, UAE Minister of Climate Change and Environment. The meeting was held on the sidelines of the Ceremony of the IFPA headquarters relocation to Dubai on May 29, 2023, at the Etihad Museum in Dubai to continue consultations on pursuing the already existing excellent bilateral relations between UAE and IOFS, particularly in light of the relocation of IFPA to Dubai.

H.E. Prof. Yerlan A. Baidaulet, DG of IOFS and Chairman of IFPA discussed food security issues with H.E. Mariam Almheiri, Minister of Climate Change and Environment, including the participation of IOFS in COP28, the support of the UAE Ministry for the future development of IFPA, climate change activities, governance enablement, the upcoming 6th IOFS General Assembly and Ministerial event, as well as elaborating on other strategic topics on the joint agenda. During the discussion, the Director General of IOFS proposed conducting a joint event with the Ministry on food security next year, which the Minister fully supported.

Consultations are to continue within the framework of the meeting held today so as to ensure that UAE actively supports the strenuous efforts of the IOFS on strengthening food security in all Member States, particularly within the implementation of the Africa Food Security Initiative (AFSI).
