IOFS Concerned with Deteriorating Humanitarian Situation in Gaza
17 October 2023

It is with a grave concern the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS) is following the ongoing deterioration of the humanitarian situation in the Gaza, as in view of the current crises and in accordance with United Nations reports, it is estimated that a huge amount of Palestinians have been displaced within the territory and/or sheltering at United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) facilities across the Gaza Strip.

The displacement of Palestinians, including women, children, and the elderly, has left them in urgent need of humanitarian aid, particularly food and drinkable water. Many have lost their homes, their livelihoods, and their access to basic necessities.

The IOFS, in this context, launches an urgent appeal for the sense of compassion and humanity from all Member States and relevant Institutions of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to join hands towards providing critical food relief to the displaced Palestinians in Gaza. The IOFS firmly believes that such generous support could make a significant difference in their lives and help bring hope and sustenance to those who have endured unimaginable hardships.

The IOFS expresses hope for further humanitarian appeal within the outcomes of the open-ended extraordinary meeting of OIC Executive Committee to address the escalating military situation in Gaza and its environs as well as the deteriorating conditions that endanger the lives of civilians and the overall security and stability of the region, to be held on 18 October 2023 at the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Headquarters in Jeddah, at the invitation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which chairs the current session of the Islamic Summit.

The IOFS stands ready to contribute to such efforts in these trying times, let us stand together and extend a helping hand to those who need it the most. Our compassion and generosity can bring comfort and relief to those who have faced unimaginable challenges.
