The Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS) successfully completed its first mission in Morocco as part of its Livestock Sector Enhancement Plan for North African Member States. The activity, carried out in partnership with the Moroccan National Association of Sheep and Goats Breeders (ANOC), featured a hybrid format, combining both online and physical sessions, alongside an informative site visit.
The workshop proved to be a productive platform for sharing insights and strategies to improve livestock productivity and sustainability in the region. During the sessions, participants strongly advocated for the expansion and institutionalization of such initiatives to ensure long-term sustainability and wider regional impact.
Key outcomes of the mission included:
-
Regional Knowledge Sharing: The workshop highlighted the importance of facilitating the transfer of ANOC's valuable expertise to neighboring countries, accelerating the adoption of best practices across the North African subregion.
-
Network Formation: The establishment of regional networks of farmers’ organizations and animal breeders was emphasized as a key strategy to foster cooperation, share data, and enhance collective problem-solving capabilities.
-
Scaling IOFS Efforts: Participants discussed the importance of expanding IOFS’s role in connecting subregional stakeholders, ensuring that efforts to improve livestock productivity are aligned with national and regional food security priorities.
This mission marks a significant step in IOFS’s continued efforts to advance food security and strengthen agricultural systems across its member states. By focusing on livestock sector development, IOFS is contributing to the sustainable and resilient food systems needed to address current and future challenges in the region.
