IOFS and WFP Explore Opportunities for Collaboration

Astana, Kazakhstan - 5 December 2024 – Ambassador Khusrav Noziri , Assistant Director-General of the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS), hosted a meeting with Mr. Stanlake Samkange, Director of the Multilateral and Programme Country Partnership and Innovation Department at the World Food Programme (WFP), at IOFS Headquarters.

Ambassador Noziri briefed on the IOFS, its mission, and objectives, highlighting its focus on sustainable food security and its engagement with UN institutions. He also shared details of key IOFS projects, including initiatives in sustainable agriculture ,food reserve systems and humanitarian activities. 

Mr. Stanlake expressed WFP’s interest in collaboration and discussed potential joint efforts to enhance resilience, address food crises, and promote agricultural sustainability. Both parties agreed to explore a framework for future cooperation through knowledge exchange and joint programs.

This meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment of IOFS and WFP to combating global food insecurity.
