Turkey's agricultural sector is increasingly shifting towards tropical fruit production, showing significant growth and potential. Originally focused on passion fruit, Turkish farmers have expanded to include avocados, mangoes, dragon fruit, guava, and papaya, particularly in Mediterranean areas like Antalya, Mersin, and Alanya. In Alanya, avocado cultivation has skyrocketed from 250 acres to 16,500 acres in the past 12 years, driven by rising demand and a harvest of 70 to 80 million avocados last year, with a target of 100 million this year. Beyond the domestic market, Turkey is now exporting mangoes, dragon fruit, and guava, which enhances its agricultural exports and supports economic growth. This diversification is reshaping Turkey's agricultural landscape, positioning it as a prominent player in the global tropical fruit market.
