Director General of IOFS Holds Bilateral Meetings at 16th UN-OIC Biennial General Coordination Meeting in Astana

Astana, Kazakhstan – July 22, 2024 – Ambassador Berik Aryn Director General of the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS), engaged in fruitful bilateral discussions on the sidelines of the 16th UN-OIC Biennial General Coordination meeting today in Astana, Kazakhstan.
 
The Director General’s agenda included productive meetings with key officials, reflecting IOFS's commitment to enhancing collaboration and addressing critical regional and global challenges. The meetings underscored the organization's proactive approach in advancing its mandate of food security and sustainable development across member states.
 
Key bilateral meetings included:
1. Meeting with Prof. Ahmad Sengendo, Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Assistant Secretary-General for Economic Affairs: Ambassador Aryn and Prof. Sengendo discussed avenues for strengthening economic cooperation within OIC member states, emphasizing initiatives to bolster food security and agricultural sustainability across the region.
2. Meeting with Ambassador Hameed A. Opeloyeru, OIC Permanent Observer to the UN: Discussions centered on enhancing IOFS's engagement within the United Nations framework, particularly in advocating for policies that support food security, agricultural innovation, and sustainable development goals (SDGs).
3. Meeting with Prof. Noura Zaid Alrshoud, Executive Director of the Independent Permanent Human Rights Commission (IPHRC): Ambassador Aryn and Prof. Alrshoud explored potential collaborations to ensure that food security initiatives align with human rights principles, fostering inclusive and equitable development strategies.
Ambassador Aryn reaffirmed IOFS's dedication to promoting multilateral cooperation and innovation in addressing global food security challenges.
