Egypt’s Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation, Alaa Farouk, has emphasized the vital role of agricultural exports in generating foreign currency, supporting industrial development, and securing production inputs. During a recent meeting with agricultural export and investment leaders, Farouk discussed efforts to eliminate export barriers and expand agricultural land to create a surplus for export. He highlighted the significance of agricultural processing in adding value, creating jobs, and reducing waste. The meeting, attended by key figures including Hesham Al-Hosary and Abdelsalam El-Gabaly, focused on collaboration with the private sector, linking scientific research with investment, and enhancing Egypt’s agricultural exports, which surpassed 7.3 million tons of fresh produce last year. Farouk stressed the importance of achieving the political leadership’s vision of $100 billion in total exports and highlighted Egypt’s progress in infrastructure and water management as factors positioning the country for economic success. The Minister committed to addressing obstacles faced by exporters and investors and encouraged ongoing communication to find solutions and advance the agricultural sector.
