12th Executive Board Meeting of the IOFS Convenes in Astana

[Astana, Kazakhstan] - On 29-30 January 2024, the 12th Executive Board Meeting of the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS) convened for its statutory meeting at the Organization's headquarters to, inter alia, review the past activities and to chart the course for the Organization's work in 2024. 

The meeting, chaired by H.E. Dr. Masoud Jarallah Al-Marri of the State of Qatar, is the first of its gathering to welcome H.E. Amb. Askar Mussinov in his capacity as the IOFS Director General. 

The attendees that showcased the collaborative spirit and commitment of the Executive Board, counted with the Honorary Chair, H.E. Eng. Al-Howaish of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, alongside distinguished members as H.E. Eng. Muhammad Musa Al-Amiri from the United Arab Emirates, H.E. Mr. Alibek Bakayev from the Republic of Kazakhstan (hosting country of the IOFS), H.E. Mr. Maina Hamadou from the Republic of Cameroon. Representatives from Republic of Tajikistan, Ms. Nigina Anvari and from the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Captain Muhammad Asif, followed the proceedings remotely.  

The gathering delved into the comprehensive agenda for 2024. With a focus on collaborative strategies, the Executive Board deliberated on initiatives to enhance agricultural productivity, ensure sustainable practices, and bolster global food security. 

The 12th Executive Board Meeting stands as a testament to the commitment of the IOFS in advancing food security and sustainable agriculture within the Islamic world. The outcomes of this gathering are poised to shape the Organization's work throughout the year, reinforcing the unified efforts of Member States in addressing the pressing challenges of our time.
