The Islamic Organization for Food Security in cooperation with SESRIC Agriculture and Food Security Capacity Building Programme (Agri-CaB), the Centre and National Institute for Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering (NIBGE) of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, will organise a Training Course on “Genetic Engineering and Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs)” on 14-15 May 2024 through an online video conferencing platform. The event will gather leading experts to delve into the latest advancements, challenges, and opportunities in genetic engineering and GMOs in agriculture. Day 1 will feature sessions on transgenics, agricultural biotechnology in Pakistan, and biotechnological advances, while Day 2 will focus on genome editing, GMO detection, and the role of GMOs in food security and sustainability. Facilitated by esteemed experts from institutions such as the National Institute for Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering (NIBGE) and the Malaysian Biotechnology Information Centre (MABIC), this two-day course promises enriching discussions and valuable insights for participants.
