IOFS and Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan discuss preparation for Second General Assembly
23 July 2019

One of the regular meetings of Vice-Minister of Agriculture Gulmira Issayeva and Acting Director General of the Secretariat of the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS) Yerlan Baidaulet was held at the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan on July 22, 2019. It was decided that Saparkhan Omarov would take part in the Assembly. Sides discussed food security issues, taking into account interests of each Member State, for example, export/import of food produced by the Member States themselves.

Membership at the Organization provides direct benefits for Kazakhstan such as expansion of capacity of food exports and development/modernization of agricultural infrastructure. As part of the organization’s activities, Kazakhstan will be able to withdraw at least 1 million tons of wheat from domestic circulation, raise funds with the help of the Islamic Development Bank for infrastructural projects within the Kazakhstan and other countries of Central Asia and Afghanistan, and attract investments using Islamic financial instruments.
